Frequently Asked Questions

The following is a list of some of the most frequently asked questions at Phoenix Nest Community Project. Please review our answers, and if you have a question not answered here, please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a very safe medicine that has been used for anesthesia since the 1960’s and is currently listed as one of the 40 most important medicines in the world by the World Health Organization. More recent studies have found that when used in sub-anesthetic doses, Ketamine proves to be a powerful antidepressant and an effective treatment option for PTSD, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, chronic pain and more without the need for daily medication.

What do I need to schedule an appointment for ketamine treatment?

You can book a consultation to see if ketamine treatment is something you are interested in pursuing. We do require clearance from a psychiatrist prior to booking your first session

How often do I need treatment?

Treatment plans are individualized depending on mental wellness needs and mental health history.

Can I take my medications while undergoing ketamine treatment?

YES! One of the wonderful aspects of ketamine is that you can continue the use of psychiatric medications without potential negative side effects. Benzodiazepines can slow the long-term positive effects of ketamine so we would ask that you abstain from such medications on the day of your treatment.

Will my insurance pay for ketamine treatment?

While we do not bill insurance, some insurance companies will cover the cost of treatment and we are happy to provide a superbill which you may submit to your insurer. Currently, Ketamine has not been approved by the FDA as a mental health therapy despite the overwhelming data that shows its effectiveness in treating the above-mentioned mental health conditions (About 70% have a positive response to ketamine treatment when other medications have failed).

What is the cost of treatment?

Each session costs $600 and includes consultation, treatment, and integration with an experienced facilitator. We also offer reduced rates and scholarships for those in need. We do not want to deny anyone mental peace due to a lack of funds. Please call or email us to discuss payment options.

How long does a session last?

Plan to be here for about 2.5 hours. We will talk prior to the administration of the medicine where we will set an intention for what you want to gain from your experience. Next, we prepare you with tools that will facilitate an ideal experience. The doctor or nurse will then administer the medication which lasts about 45 minutes. As the effects wear off, you will return to tea and chocolate and we will then integrate the experience.

Can I drive after my session?

No. Please arrange for transportation prior to your session.

I’m going through a rough time. Can I come in to talk with someone without ketamine treatment?

Yes! Our facilitators work under the guidance of one of the leading therapists in Northern California and we are here to help you through your life’s journey.
